When we were kids, my friends and I used to go out to a nearby field and catch blue-belly fence llizards with long grass tied into slip-knots at the end, and bring them home to keep in a terrarium, where we fed them with mealworms and such.
But we always left alone any that had lost their tails, not because the weren't 'pretty' anymore, but because we felt they had already gone through enough trauma in their little lives, and didn't need any aggravation from us.
